May 29 in Blackpool by Paul Maynard MP

Some great community projects in Blackpool don’t always get the attention they deserve. One such is EMPRISE Blackpool, based at the Solaris Centre. EMPRISE’s focus has hitherto been on trade waste recycling. This month, however, has just seen them complete a project, in partnership with the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, to plant 3,000 trees across Blackpool – some in and around the Kincraig Estate, for example. The partnership has not only had environmental benefits, but the project has given work to local unemployed young people, giving them training and helping them find new jobs. I shall be watching with interest to see EMPRISE going from strength to strength in the years to come.
