£1.1 million is an awful lot of money to pay out for a painting, even if it is an LS Lowry masterpiece. But I do think it would be a noteworthy gesture if the ‘anonymous buyer’ were to loan it to the Grundy Art Gallery for a few months each year so that we, the people of Blackpool, have to chance to see this piece of our heritage.
