I was in Cleveleys the other day visiting the new-ish Vue cinema with local councillors Alan Heppenstall and John Hodgkinson, and taking a look at the regeneration work going on in the immediate area as part of the New Wave project. Although the area around the cinema is very much work in progress, you can certainly see the shape the area is going to take. Coastal defence from flooding looks set to become increasingly important in years to come thanks to global warming, but not only will the works protect Cleveleys, but it should also enhance the visual appeal of the promenade.
I know some might argue that a cinema caters only for ‘the young’ (whoever they might be) but the day I was there you had teenagers turning right into Casino Royale and older couples turning left into Miss Potter – so somewhere the whole community can go and enjoy.
