“Gordon Brown knows Blackpool, he has visited Blackpool many times. He understands our needs and I’m sure he will listen sympathetically, but we do need to find ways of moving forward sooner rather than later.”
Oh how we laugh at Joan Humble’s craven quotes to the press. “We need to see how we can build on what is in the Government’s response to the task force report,” she says, “and ask the Prime Minister directly how he can help and how he can get other government agencies working on our behalf”.

What was the Blackpool Action Report if not the last roll of the dice to get Government to commit to Blackpool’s regeneration? Which part of the report was not clear to the Government about what was needed? What else can Joan Humble add? Indeed, why has she left it until it is too late.

“We do need to find ways of moving forward sooner rather than later” says Joan. Thanks, Joan, for that fantastic input.
